As some of you may have already heard I’ve decided that I am capable of writing a book. In the past few years I’ve grown and matured and watched the relationship I have with my wife, Holly, develop into something incredibly gratifying. It’s taken many mistakes and lessons learned but I truly feel that what we have is rare and beautiful.

I’ve also had a few opportunities to share some of the insight I’ve learned in my experiences with friends who are navigating the rough terrain in their own relationships. It occurred to me that I have a knack for giving great relationship advice and now I’m interested in sharing this advice with a broader audience.

Being able to look introspectively and through the eyes of these friends I’ve recognized a disturbing deficit in the social dynamic we live in today. Being rude has become practical and the collateral damage is the emotions of those who get in the way. We are being taught to disregard the feelings of others and that being polite or kind is no longer a necessary element in how we interact with others. This affects every relationship in our lives; most importantly the romantic ones.

Those of you who know me personally know just how bad I am at procrastinating or starting a project and then abandoning it. I’m hoping this isn’t the case with one because I feel very strongly about it.

Right now I’m in the research phase and I’m going to be asking important questions to get a feel for how the majority views certain topics that I’ll be focusing on during the course of the writing. I’ll also be organizing group discussions and I’m hoping that some of you will feel inspired to share your opinions and experiences to make this a very successful book. If you feel inspired to email me your personal story, please do. It will be completely anonymous. The more material I have the better this will be.

I’m also going to be using this blog, Facebook, and Twitter to communicate with anyone interested in the progress. The closer I get to the publication phase I hope to be able to extend gifts to those of you who have participated and stuck with me throughout its creation. Right now I have a poll on my blog and I encourage you to vote your opinion.

Right now I’m focusing on the subject of chivalry and benevolence. Two very old words with very noteworthy definitions that challenge the current status quo. Is chivalry really dead? More importantly, what exactly is chivalry?

I’ve already started the draft and I’m knee deep into chapter one. I’m very excited and will be sure to keep you all up to date with my progress.
