Trust Agents – Available Now!
One of my new favorite blogger’s is Chris Brogan (chrisbrogan.com). He just says what I’m thinking and does it in such an insightful manner that you can’t help but feel engaged and inspired. His new book, co-written with fellow blogger Julien Smith (inoveryourhead.net), Trust Agents, is available in stores today. It’s actually been on store shelves since last Monday but today’s the official release date.
The subtitle describes the context of the book: Using the Web to Build Influence, Improve Reputation, and Earn Trust. Wow! Trust? You mean you can use the web for that? Despite the rampant decay we’re used to seeing, Trust Agents seeks to change the way we think about the Internet. Imagine using the Internet to improve the public image of yourself or your company to improve personal or business relations; an island of integrity amidst the cesspool of wasted bandwidth.
Our society, as of late, seems to lack a certain amount of moral fiber; the choice between right and wrong tossed aside. After all, what does it matter if personal gain is the modus operandi? It’s time for a change. Social networking is NOT a medium for teenagers to trash talk the unpopular kid at school. It’s an integral part of our society now and we’re constantly misusing and abusing a structure that has so much more potential.
Chris and Julien start the book off with the story of Joe Pistone. You may know him as Donnie Brasco, portrayed by Johnny Depp in the movie of the same name. The trust factor was paramount to his success at bringing down one of the most notorious Mob families in American history. Trust is an integral element in your success and I encourage you to check this book out and to also have a look at Chris and Julien’s blogs (linked above).
