Awesome. I've always had a desire to get into radio. Everyone always tells me I have a voice for it but life took me in a different direction. Maybe when I'm open for a new opportunity I'll give it a whirl and see how it suits me. Are you coming to Barcamp?

Yes, that's correct. After nine years on the air (six co-hosting the morning show), I came off the air a year ago to concert on marketing, promotions and social media.

Hey Jeff! Glad the comment box started working for you. I hope that's not happening for others as well.

I really like your perspective on this subject. The last line summed it up nicely and I'm really motivated by it. My wife has been encouraging of my writing but she is only tolerant (for now) of my online activity. It might be difficult for her to understand but using social networking is key in developing an audience nowadays. Everyone has a blog and everyone is doing something similar. Making those personal touches is what set's you apart and I've been trying to devote time to that.

I'm really glad you were finally able to throw in your two cents. And thanks for the compliments on the site. I've really tried to make it fit my personality. You work @ WAYFM, right? What is it that you do there?

First, I love the over all look and style of your blog. Very nice and, I think, original too.

I just had a similar discussion with my wife regarding how a disproportional amount of my free time is spent online. I'm fortunate in that my full-time job allows (even necessitates) that I spend a fair amount of my time online. Multiple Twitter accounts and Facebook pages for work means that by the time I get home, I've already been online 10 hours. If I give in to too much time online at home, it can amount to 14 or more hours a day.

I'm trying harder to unplug on the ride home and make sure I stay that way for several hours once there. If I spend time fostering relationships online or writing for my blog, I make sure it happens only after I've given ample time and attention to my wife (no kids at the moment).

The key I think is working hard to make it a no-brainer for your family as to your priorities. If they feel they're always playing second fiddle to your online pursuits, their dissatisfaction will show. If, however, they feel as if they are coming first to everything else, they will not only "put up" with your passions, they will encourage in them.

Hey Deborah! Thanks for sharing.

Have you noticed any negative effects from limiting your face-to-face networking? Right now I'm trying to bridge my online networking with the face-to-face networking by purposefully connecting with people within my regional area and then attending meet-ups or events. This obviously creates another strain on my balancing act but I think it's crucial my social development.

btw, I added your feed to my reader and I'm following you on Twitter now too! Keep me in the loop on how you're handling the balancing act.

I come across this all the time in my life. I am a mother, part-time student, part-time other job, and work on my blog and business as much as possible.

It helps that I am single, so that I don't have the spouse hoping to get more time with me. I have a significant other, but he doesn't live with me so I do get more time that way.

The one thing I've done is limit the amount of time I'm face-to-face networking and am focusing more on my online activities. I want to develop the local geographical business as well as the online, but just don't have the time yet.
