Photo Gallery: Sprawl
As our family was walking through a newly developed park yesterday, I couldn’t help but notice the harsh contrast between nature and the man-made aesthetic. This is an area that has been built to satisfy the urban sprawl of a new outdoor mall, housing, and retail stores. I’m sure the intent was to keep some of the nature intact and make it more accessible to the new community, but it was destroyed in the process. I saw flowers growing out from the gravel that was put down for an asphalt walkway; tree’s that still had ribbons on them where their fate had been reconsidered and were spared from being cut down; even a crushed frog who was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. There was a haunted beauty about all of this. I took tons of pictures but these were the few that I really felt captured exactly what I was feeling.

Nice photos. With time perhaps the new additions will blend in more seamlessly with the natural environment. Right now the harsh contrast is really obvious.
It's nice they at least saved some room for a park though. That's one thing that's nice about Denver, there are parks everywhere and nice greenway trails that go on for miles and miles connecting them. Lots of open dog parks, open fields, etc.
Yeah, Holly and I were talking about how big of a difference we'll see in 2 years time. I'm sure a lot of that contrast will be lost after next Spring.
I want to move to Denver so bad. I'm a HUGE fan of Colorado. I've actually only been there once but it was one of the best trips of my life. Everything was gorgeous and there was so much to do. We went rock climbing, white water rafting, mountain biking, and hiking. I could actually breathe there. One day it reached 107 degrees so we drove up a mountain to a lake and there was ice on the waters edge and snow still on the ground in places! Paradise, dude.
Yeah Denver is a great town if you like the outdoors. Biking, lakes, mountains, etc. Even better if you are in the military since the base has an outdoor recreation building where you can rent bikes and skis and even campers and stuff for a few bucks a day.
I like the internet though so I stay inside.
I love the internet too, but I have to have me some outdoors. I could definitely use an upgrade in my outdoor interactions though.
