Attn Nashville Bloggers (Video)

If you’re not in Nashville then you may just want to skip this one. (Sorry!) Attention all Nashville-based bloggers! I have an idea and I need your help. Watch the following vid to get the scoop.

So there it is. Are you interested? I have no idea if anyone else is already doing this, but if they are then I’m about to step on some toes. I have a very specific vision for this site and I’m looking for anyone who has the skill and interest to step up and help make this happen.

Please be sure to get in touch if you can code PHP, if you specialize in web and/or graphic design, logo design, are familiar with WordPress MU, or have any other relevant skills to bring to the table. This is going to be OUR community so everyone has a say in it’s development.

Anyone else as excited as I am?

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

I ask so little. Just let me rule you, and you can have everything that you want. I just wanted to update everyone about some of the changes that have taken place this week (while also paying homage to the great David Bowie). The most obvious change is that the blog is no longer located at Blogger. I’m now hosting on my own domain with Wordpress. I have nothing against Blogger other than I was a bit too restricted to the format. I have a lot more freedom on Wordpress and it shows. I am still, however, working out a few minor bugs that came with converting my template over. I’ll get to those eventually.

I’m hosting my site, willsloanonline.com, through HostMonster now, which has been a great experience so far. For those of you who may be looking for a solid host with a ton of features at a great price then check these guys out. Plans also includes unlimited hosting space and bandwidth. Setting up WordPress is a breeze too. Not only do they fully support PHP/MySQL but they have collaborated with SimpleScripts.com to make setting up your WordPress database completely automatic. No brains necessary. Trust me, I’m living proof.

Some of the changes I’ve made to the new site include a homepage which displays featured posts, news, recent comments and more. I’ve also added an About page with a mini bio and a Contact form. Another significant change is the commenting platform. I’m using Disqus to manage my comments now and that means your can login to post a comment using your Facebook, Twitter, OpenID, or Disqus account. Once you login it will pull your avatar (profile pic thumbnail) from that account and show it next to your comment.

I’ve also decided to add a community feature that fully integrates with Facebook using a powerful toolbar from Wibiya. This will hopefully broaden my readership and open up the doors for an awesome community experience. Originally I had intended to use Google for the community aspect of the site but it slowed my site down dramatically and wasn’t really that great so I removed it. Sorry Google, you know I’m still a fan. Wibiya is still beta testing but they have graciously allowed me to be a part of that phase and I’m looking forward to helping in any way I can. It’s an awesome service.

If you enjoy the blog please pass a link on to your friends and share the love. Be sure to leave comments, share links on Facebook and Twitter, and send me your personal feedback. If you’d like to see something new, updated, or removed just contact me. Maybe you have a topic or a question that you’d like my perspective on. I’m always open to any and everything so don’t be afraid to throw it my way.

Thanks for reading!!
